They consist of multiple layers of wax, and are full of texture and light.  They are painted on rigid wooden supports, so can be hung directly on your wall as they are, or you can add an encaustic open style wooden frame for added protection and display.    Traditionally, these paintings are not framed behind glass.

They go through a six month ‘curing’ (hardening) process, and are beautifully tactile, often taking on a luminescent sense when the lighting changes.

They can be carefully buffed periodically with a soft cloth to make them shine if you wish.
