Encaustic Wax Painting – You love encaustic. So why do you never actually make time for it?

In How To Paint With Encaustic Wax

I found this encaustic wax painting video in the archives recently… (You can tell it’s an old one because it shows my old julieannsgallery website address at the beginning!!) But what struck me most wasn’t the website – it was how therapeutic painting with an iron is – and still is, all these years later.

Because here’s the thing…

I see so many people longing to create, but constantly resisting it.

Maybe you feel it too – this deep desire to dive in, but something always stops you.

I know this feeling well… for me, it used to show up as perfectionism and procrastination.

  • “I don’t think mine will be anywhere near as good as that!”

  • “I’ll get around to it later…”

  • “What if I get it wrong?”

Years ago, when I started encaustic, there was next to no one in the UK teaching it. I had to figure it all out alone, constantly second-guessing whether I was doing it right.

When I did actually start… I created some great pieces… and… some absolute shockers… 😆  (Still hidden in the depths somewhere!! 😂) I know they’re an important part of the process and will come to light one day…!

But here’s what I learned…

The only difference between people who create and people who don’t? Simply starting.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to start creating – the truth is, there’s never a perfect time. Only now.

If you think you might not be ‘good enough’ – I hear you… honestly… most people feel that way at times… just know you don’t need to be “good” to start.

If you just feel a bit ‘stuck’ – getting into a room with others helps no end.

Inside my spaces, there’s no pressure, no comparisons, and no overwhelm…  just a desire to create and lose yourself in the process.

It’s all about curiosity and play.

A space where you can explore freely, without fear of ‘getting it wrong.’

You might find a local creative group near you… but if encaustic has been calling to you and you can’t find anyone local to help – I’d love to support you.
