Julie Wrathall – Encaustic Wax Artist

 In Julie's Life Musings

For those of you who are new here, I came across this intro by The Bloomz Arthouse recently, it was quite a nice write up, so thought I’d use it to reintroduce myself on this blog…!

In their words…

“Julie Wrathall specialises in hot wax (encaustic) paintings… a fascinating ancient medium; using beeswax, resin and 2,000 year old techniques… with a modern twist.”

Her art invites you to pause, reflect, look deeper and search out the light shining through the layers below.    High vibrational art that simply lifts and soothes the soul.

After years of office admin and management work, Julie became more confident with her art after winning a competition place at Tate Modern in 2011, she was so inspired by the experience, she handed her notice, rented a studio and launched into her art journey with both feet, she has shared her passion of encaustic art with thousands since.

Julie Wrathall - Encaustic Wax

Julie lived in Hertfordshire in the UK (40 minutes NW of London), for the past 25 years (after only popping up for a weekend!) but has recently moved back home to her roots by the sea in North Cornwall, with plans for her own permanent custom built studio space, opening in Spring 2025.

Every piece of Julie’s original art is a one off… there can never be two identical pieces, meaning collectors have their very own, bespoke, wax art… as individual, and unique as they are.

Julie’s art continues to evolve long after she has finished with it… light changes throughout the day and seasons can bring an almost luminous quality to her encaustic work.  Moments of intense, uplifting, iridescent colour, can catch the viewer at the least expected times.
