Description
This is a gentle, yet powerful depiction of a woman, evolving through the layers of her lifetime.
I sketched the image of the lady almost 35 years ago… when I was fifteen! (No need to do the math!)
I came across her again during my recent studio move, and so, using photo encaustic techniques… I added three layers of the same image within the wax…. allowing barely visible snippets to just peek through.
Extra elements, including music and colours, which symbolise her song… her story… unique to her.
Slowly, layer by layer, revealing the woman she really is. Along with an anticipation, of so much more to come.
**Please see main image and video for finished piece. Some photos shown, are work in progress shots to reveal some of the lower layers which aren’t fully visible in the finished piece.**
As wax is such an impossible medium to capture in a single photograph, here’s a rough and ready video to try and show you all the angles, hidden details and reflections… See how much that wax shines in places, the finish is like glass… Such a magical medium…. !
