Cornwall Open Studios 2025 – My First Year in the South West!
I’m thrilled to be opening the doors of my new studio for Cornwall Open Studios 2025, running across two creative long weekends: 24th – 26th May & 30th May – 1st June, open 11am–5pm daily.
After many years of taking part in Hertfordshire, this is my first time participating in the Cornwall event… which is extra special this year, as it almost didn’t happen!
Last year, I was really disappointed to hear Creative Kernow announce that the Open Studios Cornwall event would cease to run… but thanks to the incredible efforts of a new team of passionate artists, led by Jeremy Sanders, it’s was revived – with a bang! From zero to over 270 artists within a few short weeks, it’s growth and support has been phenomenal to watch!
The brand new COS website is great, easy to navigate by discipline, and location, and the quality of art work throughout is exceptional, it promises to be a really amazing event… also look out for publications and advertisements running throughout the month, from Artists & Illustrators, to local magazines, their publicity and support has been infectious…
I was delighted to see this timeline image pop up… I had to look twice, as I saw my grinning face staring back at me…! Taken when the brochures were delivered – by hand, from Lucy at The Canny Goose! It was a delight to meet her, the hand delivery of the brochures really built on the community and connection feel of the event!
I can’t express how grateful, we as artists, are, for all their hard work and dedication to continue the legacy of Open Studios in this beautiful County. 🙏
So… What to Expect:
Come along to my brand new art studio, to explore my light-filled encaustic wax art… watch as I demonstrate ancient techniques of painting with beeswax, (with a modern twist!)… You will be mesmerised watching the wax, as it melts and flows and speaks to your soul.

Whether you’re curious about the magic of encaustic art, the how to’s of smartphone photography, or simply want to immerse yourself in an inspiring environment, I’d love to welcome you into my new creative corner.
I may open on extra days or run spontaneous workshops during the Open Studios window. The best way to stay in the loop? Make sure you’re subscribed to my newsletter and following along on social media. I’ll post updates there as they unfold, I will also put a Art Studio Open sign up outside, so you know you can drop in if you’re passing by.
Where to Find Me: I’m Studio 237 in the Cornwall Open Studios catalogue, conveniently located on the A39 Atlantic Highway, roughly half way between Bude & Camelford, at Wainhouse Corner (opposite Wainhouse Country Stores). The postcode is EX23 0AZ.

Jon Heard is just a mile from my studio, Bridget Winterborn & Sammy Davis a short drive away in Bude, my fellow Bloomz Arthouse member Sammy Hexter-Andrews is based nearby at Tresmeer, and a host of Camelford & Launceston based artists all within a short car drive away!
I’ll finish off by saying this event feels so special, a new chapter, not just for my art, but for this new phase in my life. I can’t wait to welcome you in… to share my process, my new studio, and connect, through inspiration, wax, photography, local landscapes, colour, and hopefully, lots of laughter..!
