Encaustic Art Retreats In North Cornwall…
|
|
| Hello…! I’ve been exploring the possibility of hosting an intimate encaustic art retreat here in North Cornwall… (I’m currently looking at dates in March / June / September 2026)… think molten wax, sea air, shared creativity… and lots of time to reconnect with yourself… and your art.
My studio isn’t set up for what I have in mind, so I’ve found another space, close to mine, that would comfortably fit around 6-8 people. (See details below) I also have some lovely secluded accommodation planned, just down the road from me in Crackington Haven. Think quiet and peaceful, with gardens, long walks, and a wooded meadow, with a stream running through… a space to simply breathe… We would have a shared meeting area, where we’ll come together for chats, meals, meet ups (after studio, sketching, photography, walks, etc…) With the opportunity of separate cabins to yourself, or to share with a friend… a perfect blend of inspiration together, and time out to yourself, to integrate all of your experiences from the day..! I’m still refining the final details, but depending what extras are included, catering, guest tutors, optional experiences, etc. (my mind is in overdrive at what we could include!!) The cost would be in the region of £1,900–£2,250 per person, includes materials, accommodation, some food, some travel, and an option for non-painting guests to come too. I’m planning arrival on Sunday afternoon, welcome drinks Sunday evening, art time and local excursions Monday – Friday, departure Saturday morning, (although I might need to tweak this slightly to work in with studio and accommodation availability.) So… Can you imagine a few days away on the North Cornish Coast..? I can…. the idea won’t go away… and I’d love to share it with you… (you may recall I’d planned some art retreats back in 2020, in my old studio in Hertfordshire, before the world came to a stop… creating this space to come together isn’t anything new, just delayed…!) Anyhow, before I finalise everything, I would first love to get a rough show of hands to gauge interest. If it’s a yes… a hell yes… or even a maybe, please tell me more… please drop me an e-mail, julie@artyheaven.com and let me know…! I can’t wait to hear from you… Julie x
PS – If a full retreat isn’t for you, we are also in discussions of running occasional 1 or 2 day encaustic workshops, so feel free to reply to note your interest in those too.
Here’s a bit more info on the art studio… (Looking a little dishevelled after a children’s painting class, but they did say I can set it up however I like!!) Just five miles down the road from me in Boscastle… it’s the creation of Carole Vincent, who designed ‘The Bude Light’ and many other prominent public sculptures. Since Carole’s passing, the space is now run by Sam Halstead and Phoebe Stannard, who’s “mission is to support and inspire artists of all ages and abilities” – just perfect! Carole’s colour palates and illuminated plinths are still on display around the room, and the beautiful sculpture garden is free for us to use and take inspiration from. The rain was torrential during my visit, therefore, my photos aren’t great, and I didn’t explore the gardens… but you can see what a beautiful space it is on their website here. |

The Cornish run at a ‘dreckley’ laid back pace… offering the perfect opportunity to breathe and step away from the merry-go-round of life… enjoy the sea air, contemplate the colours and textures, and take in the atmosphere… all guaranteed to inspire those next pieces of art as soon as we get into the studio… 🌊✨🌿✨🌸✨🌅 Get in touch to register your interest… feel free to ask me any questions you may have… and make sure you’re on my newsletter (sign up form on the home and contact page) to ensure you’re the first to hear confirmed dates.
